Setting of Lessons

Lesson Area Requirements

Teachers must conduct lessons in a pre-approved or suitable venue with adequate lighting and no distractions.

Clothing Requirements

Teachers must wear appropriate business casual attire and maintain a professional appearance. Sleeveless tops, tank tops, revealing clothes, and similar clothing are strictly prohibited.

Conduct Requirements

Teachers must stay focused on the client and the lesson. Activities unrelated to the lesson, including playing games, chatting with others, or using mobile phones, are not allowed during class.

Equipment and Technical Requirements

Teachers should check all equipment before class. Interruptions caused by equipment failure may be subject to penalties.

Lesson Schedule Requirement

Teachers maintain regular availability in the teacher portal; administrators manually deploy it to the following week. Saving changes does not cancel bookings or immediately change published slots. Empty regular schedules are supported for approved circumstances, but changes to agreed working commitments must be discussed with Teacher Support. The current standard commitment remains at least five working days, including 18:00–20:30 on working days, unless individually agreed otherwise.

Teaching Requirement

  1. Conduct each lesson professionally and follow system announcements and teaching guidelines.
  2. Prepare according to the client's English skills, level, learning purpose, previous lesson memo, messages, and reservation details.
  3. Download lesson materials ahead of time and prepare teaching tools such as whiteboard, classroom tools, dictionaries, translators, online references, and visual aids.
  4. Check internet speed, computer, camera, power supply, and other equipment at least 2 hours before class.
  5. Teachers may give additional activities or homework to the client.
  6. Write the lesson summary after class, including lesson content, student performance, and areas that need practice.

Tardiness and Missed Lessons

  1. Notify Teacher Support as soon as a possible delay or absence is known; where foreseeable, give at least 2 hours' notice. Emergency notice must be sent immediately. Notice does not itself cancel a booking or guarantee a penalty waiver. Cancellation timing and fees are set out below.
  2. PBEnglish may reduce teacher fees or cancel the agreement in cases of excessive tardiness or missed lessons.
  3. Teachers cannot unilaterally cancel booked lessons. In an emergency, contact Teacher Support.
  4. Teachers are not paid when the client cancels within the lesson cancellation threshold.
  5. If the client does not cancel but is absent, the teacher can leave the ClassIn classroom after waiting 10 minutes and may receive compensation according to the annex.
  6. If a lesson is canceled because of bad internet, no internet, power outage, or similar causes, PBEnglish is not obligated to pay the teacher.

Performance Standards

Teacher performance is reviewed based on missed lessons, opened schedules, complaints, and client evaluations. PBEnglish mainly focuses on service delivery and output quality. Client feedback, ratings, complaints, and comments are part of performance review.

PBEnglish is not obligated to pay for a full class if the full class is not delivered or if the client requests a refund through the fault of the teacher.

Fees and Payment Schedule

Fees

PBEnglish pays teachers a service fee for full and faithful performance of completed lessons. The service fee covers teaching services based on completed lessons.

Incentive and compensation changes must be communicated with their effective date and applicable scope. Individual rates and deposit balances are recorded in the teacher portal. Do not infer a universal deposit amount from older versions of this agreement.

Payment Schedule

Teachers are paid twice a month, on the 1st and 15th, through bank transfer or GCash. Salary is settled in pesos. If the payment day falls on a Saturday, Sunday, holiday, or another non-working day, payment will be made on the next working or business day.

The cutoff periods are the 1st–14th and the 15th–last day of each month. Review the statement in Payroll, including lesson income, bonuses, penalties, cancellation waivers, adjustments and the payable total. Confirm it or submit a question with specific reasons. A confirmed statement is not proof that a bank transfer has arrived.

PBEnglish does not issue cash advances or loans. Teacher personal information will not be shared with third parties unless required by law.

Individual Deposit and Departure Arrangements

Your deposit follows your individual financial record and agreement, not a universal 500-peso deduction. Check the balance in the teacher portal and raise discrepancies with support. Contact Teacher Support to agree on departure, booking handover and final settlement arrangements. The former universal one-week notice and 100-peso departure bonus are no longer part of this standard policy; any existing individual commitments should be checked separately.

Fees and Penalties System

Lesson Rate

R means the teacher's agreed rate for one 25-minute lesson. A continuous 50-minute lesson counts as two lessons. Check your individual rate in the portal; it is not an hourly rate. Teach the full booked duration: the system's 23-minute monitoring threshold does not shorten a 25-minute lesson.

Incentive

  1. For every 500 lessons completed, the teacher's level increases by one, adding 5 pesos per class, up to a maximum of 100 pesos.
  2. Enrollment incentive is 500 pesos per enrolled client for each successful demo class.

A successful Demo is identified from eligible trial and purchase records. If a client took multiple eligible Demos, the last eligible Demo before the purchase receives the attribution. The bonus is frozen for 30 days from purchase, then included in the next applicable cutoff payday. Refunds before maturity revoke the success; refunds at or after maturity do not revoke it under the current rule. The portal shows eligibility and the expected payment date, subject to payroll checks and the working-day payment rule.

The 500-lesson rate progression remains the current policy. Contact support to verify completed-lesson totals and any applicable rate update. Future changes will be announced with an effective date.

Sanctions

  1. Teacher-absence penalty: 3R per lesson under the current active rule. Historical lessons retain their applicable rule and payroll records.
  2. Late class penalty: 50% of lesson rate per lesson.
  3. A substantiated client complaint has a 2R penalty under the current rule. A report is not automatically a substantiated complaint. Complaint-related cancellation is a separate event; it does not automatically establish a complaint, and the two may apply independently when justified.
  4. Each teacher has two cancellation-fee waivers per cutoff, only for teacher-requested cancellations made at least 1 hour before class and successfully processed by support. The cutoff is determined by the scheduled class date (1st–14th or 15th–month end). The first two eligible lessons are counted by request time; each lesson counts separately, including lessons in a batch request. Unused waivers do not carry forward. Cancellations less than 1 hour before class are not free and do not use this allowance. No-response, absence, equipment/network and complaint cancellations are excluded. The original deduction and its waiver credit are separately recorded in payroll.
  5. For a teacher-requested cancellation at least 1 hour before the scheduled start, the cancellation fee before any applicable waiver is 0.5R (50% of one lesson rate).
  6. For a teacher-requested cancellation less than 1 hour before the scheduled start but before class begins, the cancellation fee before any applicable waiver is 1.5R (150% of one lesson rate in total). This is the total fee, not an additional 150%. At or after the scheduled start, the absence-cancellation rule applies.
  7. For example, if R is 100 pesos, the above cancellation fees are 50 pesos and 150 pesos respectively, before an applicable waiver. A canceled lesson is not counted as a completed paid lesson. A customer-reason cancellation does not generate a teacher cancellation penalty.
  8. Absence, complaints, and cancellations may deduct class-hour credit and affect salary increases.

If a teacher cannot attend class due to special circumstances such as disaster, illness, or emergency, supporting documents must be provided. PBEnglish will verify them and may reduce or waive penalties if valid.

Compensation

If you arrived on time and the student has not joined, remain in ClassIn for at least 10 minutes and inform support before leaving. If the student joins only after this proper wait and departure, the lesson is handled as student absence based on verified evidence. The standard net pay for verified student absence is 0.5R, before any independent applicable adjustments; it is not full lesson pay plus another 0.5R.

Attendance may remain under verification while classroom evidence arrives. A pending status is not a final absence or fine. Confirmed deductions and any waivers are itemized in payroll and may be questioned through the portal. Suspected video issues do not automatically create penalties. Record every class, upload all recordings to the matching portal class, and resolve red video warnings with support.

Keep student information and recordings within approved support channels. Do not publish them or use them for personal promotion. Reading or passing the onboarding quiz records training completion, not a signature on this agreement.
